Sorry - Still Learning!

 You may or may not have read this weeks Rite Aid deal write up.  If you did you may have seen an image that said I had stolen some of that bloggers information. Apparently, another blogger copied an entire post onto his/her site.  GASP which lead to the new image being put in it's place.

Well being new to blogging I did not realize there was laws prohibiting copy some images.

Well there is a law that was passed in Oct 12th of 1998 which is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA for short).  This is a United States copyright law that implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization.  It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures (digital rights management that control access to copy righted works.  WHO KNEW!  I sure did not.  You can read a full explanation on Wikipedia here as to what DMCA is about.

So I have now learned and you should be aware of this act too. 

I want all my readers to know I pride myself on being an ethical blogger.  I do my own weekly deal write ups and if there is content or information used in any post from another blogger, I always give credit when credit is do.  Though this maybe a standard practice in the blogging community I was unaware that some people would copy an entire post submitting as their own.  YIKES!

It just goes to show you...no matter how old you are there is ALWAYS something to be learned.
